Safe Resident Handling Session:

Musculoskeletal injuries are the highest percent of injury in the long-term care sector. In continuing with SafeCareBC’s commitment to lowering this injury rate, we are launching Safe Resident Handling sessions. These two-day sessions will include a classroom session and a simulation aspect. This course will seek to provide comprehensive training to key people on clinical units to perform and understand basic ceiling life techniques and to learn about safe patient handling tools.

Typically, Nurse Educators, Nurse Clinicians or Rehab staff are nominated by their managers as trainers, however, any staff member who has the permission of their manager is welcome to attend this training.

This workshop is modeled as a Train the Trainer program. This means the purpose is to have a few staff from your care home take the training and then have them take the training back with them to teach others. We encourage those individuals who act as safety champions, train others, or have roles in care planning to attend this training.

  • Workshops are 2 full days
  • Cost is 100.00$ per participant
  • Course is pass/fail with a certification given at the end of training
  • Maximum class size is 10 people
