Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum Facilitator Training

Course description

Are you already familiar with violence prevention techniques, but want to share your knowledge and expertise with others at your workplace? Are you looking to train your staff in a cost-effective and efficient manner?

Injuries arising from acts of violence or aggression are one of the leading causes of injury among continuing care workers. These scenarios can be avoided or managed by using the most current violence prevention skills and techniques.

Overview

SafeCare BC’s Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum Facilitator workshop is designed to provide comprehensive training on leading violence prevention practices and coaching principles. As a peer facilitator, you will have the knowledge to teach your co-workers violence prevention strategies.

This four-day workshop is comprised of both classroom and simulation components.

To complete registration please follow the process outlined below. Please note that the registration process must be completed by the workshop participant.

A letter of organizational support must be received by SafeCare BC within 72 hours of submitting your application. You may find a printable PDF template here. Please submit your letter of support to training@safecarebc.ca

    1. Participants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
    2. Experience working in healthcare or the continuing care sector
    3. Ability to effectively train others
    4. Desire and opportunity to provide ongoing education and support to peers
    5. Dedicated advocacy for health and safety best practices to reduce workplace injuries
    6. Commitment to tracking continuing education hours over a two-year certification period
    7. Have attended the 1-day Provincial Violence Prevention Curriculum workshop

 

  1. Complete Application Form
    1. To begin the application process, press the green "Register Now" button
    2. Provide your email address on the event registration page, 
    3. Select a member or non-member ticket based on your organization's membership type,
    4. Assign ticket to your self, 
    5. Complete all fields of the application form,

 

  1. Provide payment for workshop registration using the online secure payment portal

 

  1.  Provide a completed letter of organizational support to SafeCare BC within 72 hours of submitting your application

    2. Obtain the signature of either your organization’s Administrator or Director of Care,
    3. Scan the letter and send to training@safecarebc.ca

 

Please note: Completing registration is not a guarantee of program admission.

All submissions will be evaluated after the application is received and you will be notified of your status in the workshop.

Cost:

SafeCare BC member: $400 per participant

Non-SafeCare BC member: $800 per participant
