Overview

This two-day training course has been developed by SafeCare BC for the continuing care sector. It provides instruction on how to use the Audit Tool. The Audit Tool has been designed to assist continuing care organizations in assessing the presence, implementation, and effectiveness of their organization’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies, processes, procedures, and practices. Organizations can use this self-audit tool to identify opportunities for OHS improvements at their sites.

Following completion of the two-day training course, participants will complete an audit of their site.

Prerequisites:

The Health & Safety Management System training is intended for organizations that have a basic safety program in place and want to learn more about how they can improve their current program.

Organizations should send two representatives to the training program.

Potential auditor candidates should possess the following experience and training:

  • Current or past joint committee chair or worker representative 
  • Minimum 1 day (8 hour) joint committee training within the last 24 months
  • Minimum 1 day of additional OHS program/system training within the last 24 months

Pre-Reading:

Participants will be emailed pre-reading materials for the course at least 2 weeks prior to the session.

*The completion of all pre-readings prior to the first day of the in-class session is mandatory.*
