Participants will have an opportunity to learn the legal responsibilities, duties and functions of the JOHS Committee as well as safety legislation and workplace parties’ rights and responsibilities. The course will also provide updates on changes to health and safety legislation, understanding of key elements to having an effective committee, knowledge of principles of workplace assessment and control strategies, as well as awareness of existing health and safety resources.

SafeCare BC is pleased to be partnering with the BC Fed Health and Safety Centre on these important workshops. An effective Occupational Health and Safety Committee is integral to creating safe work environments and promoting a culture of safety within organizations.

The partnership between SafeCare BC and the BC Fed Health and Safety Centre comes from a Memorandum of Understanding between the two associations signed in September to co-deliver workshops to JOHS Committee members in the continuing care sector. Both organizations recognize that providing relevant, quality education and training opportunities is an effective way to support committee members in their roles.
