Overview

Safe Resident Handling Peer Facilitator Training (SRH) is a two-day, in-person workshop that includes both classroom and simulation components. The course includes a pre-course review, in-class learning, simulation exercises, and three quizzes to communicate course content and evaluate participants’ understanding of course concepts. SRH seeks to provide comprehensive training to key people on clinical units on safe handling best-practices and coaching principles. SRH is delivered on a pass/fail basis with a certification given following successful completion of the course.

SRH seeks to provide peer coaches with the knowledge and capacity to teach fellow colleagues in safe handling and musculoskeletal injury prevention (MSIP) within the continuing care sector.

Intended Audience:

Participants must meet the following criteria to be admitted into this program:

1. Familiarity with musculoskeletal injury prevention theory, safe handling techniques and tools/equipment that enable the application of safe handling in practice

2. The ability to effectively train others in the above

3. The desire and opportunity to provide ongoing support to peers once they are trained and provide in-the-moment education where needed

4. Advocate for workplace health and safety and support best practices to reduce workplace injuries

*Please ensure you meet these requirements prior to completing registration. Only those who meet the eligibility requirements will be admitted. Any applications received that do not meet SafeCare BC's eligibility criteria will be notified and fully refunded.

Who should apply?:

We encourage those individuals who act as safety champions, train others, or have roles in care planning to attend this training.

$100 – SafeCare BC members
